How do I know if my child needs support?

Prairie Rose Public Schools offers Early Learning Readiness Check-Ups around the district to provide parents, educators, and healthcare professionals with valuable information about a child’s development. The check-up process enables Prairie Rose to arrange early intervention (programming and support) for children with developmental delays. Check-ups are not an assessment and therefore will only be used to identify children who may require further assessment. Children entering a JK or K program are encouraged to book a check-up appointment prior to attending the program, unless determined otherwise.

My child has been accessing services through Alberta Health Services (AHS). How do I ensure my child’s school and the division get the information?

AHS works closely in partnership with PRPS. If you indicate that you are interested in accessing PRPS’s educational support, AHS will connect with PRPS to share information. If you indicate on you application that you are receiving supports outside of PRPS, with your approval, PRPS will request AHS to share information.

When and where will check-ups take place?

Check-ups take place in the spring prior to the next school year.

Who should I contact if I have any questions about early learning supports in PRPS?
